RACKETS, the rock trio fronted by songwriter Harrison Kipner, have been prepping their second album and the follow-up to their strong debut, “Red Flag Days,” which they introduced with the left-field pop-rock of “Ooh Aah” back in 2019.
Kipner, who released a solo covers EP during the pandemic, is joined by Dane Sandborg and Aaron Westine in the band, and they have been working with producer Stefan Macarewich, aka Stefan Mac (Young the Giant, Wallows, Reignwolf, among others), on the new record.
Arriving at a gallop and with contagious energy, “Wanna Know Ya” is the trio’s latest single. “I remember feeling like I was on stage seeing everyone lose it,” Kipner says of his inspirations in writing the song with Westine. “It’s about that feeling when you catch someone’s eye at a bar or a party and this whole potential future with them explodes into your head like a firework.” With Mac adding the slippery synth, the tune has a pre-chorus and chorus that will stick in your head like one of those moments.
